Plain English summary: Browsing olud.ai does not require an account or the voluntary submission of personal information; as with most websites, limited technical data such as IP addresses may be processed automatically for security and operation, as described below. If you create an optional account, we store only the information required to provide the account features you choose — such as your email address, authentication information, watchlist, votes and any public profile information you decide to provide — and you can delete your account in one click from your account page. We use Google AdSense (which may set advertising cookies) and analyse usage and traffic data with your consent. You can decline all non-essential cookies using our banner. Your data is never sold to third parties.

olud.ai ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at https://olud.ai. olud.ai is an independent AI intelligence and discovery platform that tracks open-source projects, AI tools, models and related ecosystem data.

Browsing the site requires no registration. The built-in creative AI tools (Code Assistant, Summarizer, Text to Speech) process your inputs in real time via the Pollinations AI API. We do not store, log, or retain those prompts or outputs on our servers.
The olud.ai assistant. The chat bubble at the bottom of every page answers questions about AI and about this site. When a question needs more than our built-in answers, the text of your question is sent to OpenRouter, which routes it to a DeepSeek model, together with public figures from this site (project counts, prices, tool names). Nothing else is sent: not your email, not your account, not your IP address, not your browsing history. olud.ai does not use your questions to train AI models; when a third-party provider processes a request, its handling is governed by that provider's own terms and privacy policy.
Two things are kept on our own server, and it is fair that you know exactly what:
Please do not type personal or confidential information into the assistant. If you would like a question you asked removed from the log, write to [email protected] with its wording and approximate date.
Optional member account. You can create a free account to follow projects, vote, comment and build a public profile. Sign-in is passwordless — via an email link, or via Google or GitHub (OAuth). Depending on the method, we store on our server: your email address; if you use Google or GitHub, the basic profile they return (name, public username/handle and an avatar URL); your watchlist (projects you follow); your votes; the content of your public profile (handle, display name, bio, links, and any avatar or banner image you upload); and sign-in tokens with their timestamps. We never store a password. Any image you upload is re-encoded on our server — a process that strips embedded metadata such as EXIF/GPS — and stored to display your profile. This data is kept until you delete it: the “Delete account” button on your account page permanently deletes the personal data and account content stored by olud.ai. Content hosted by third-party services — such as comments stored through GitHub Discussions (giscus) — remains subject to the deletion mechanisms and policies of those services. We request only the OAuth permissions necessary for authentication and account features (for GitHub: read:user and user:email).
Public content you create. If you make your profile public, cast a vote, or post a comment, that content is visible to everyone. Comments are powered by giscus and are stored as GitHub Discussions in a public repository under your GitHub identity; they are therefore also governed by GitHub's Privacy Statement. You are responsible for the content you publish; you can remove it, and we may remove content that breaches our Terms of Service.
Some features (favorites, theme preference, reading state) store data in your browser's localStorage. (The watchlist of a member account is stored on our server, as described in Section 2.) This data never leaves your device, is never transmitted to us, and you can erase it at any time by clearing your browser data.
Some pages load public content directly from third parties: our homepage may fetch our latest posts from the public APIs of Bluesky (public.api.bsky.app) and Mastodon (mastodon.social), and project pages display preview images served by GitHub. When your browser contacts these services, they receive your IP address and user agent under their own privacy policies. We receive nothing from these requests.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes.
We use the following categories of cookies:
You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking Manage Cookie Preferences or by clearing your browser cookies.
This site uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info/choices/.
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process personal data under the following legal bases:
If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the following rights:
Request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
Ask us to correct inaccurate personal data.
Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
Ask us to limit how we process your data.
Receive your data in a machine-readable format.
Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Member accounts can exercise erasure and access directly: your account page provides access to the main account information associated with your profile, and its “Delete account” button deletes your account and the data olud.ai stores. You may request a complete copy of the personal data we hold about you, or exercise any of these rights, by contacting us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: We do not sell your personal information to third parties. However, Google AdSense may share data for cross-context behavioural advertising. To opt out, use the link below or disable advertising cookies in our cookie manager.
California residents have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):
To exercise your CCPA rights or to opt out of data sharing for advertising purposes, contact us at [email protected] or use our Cookie Preference Manager.
olud.ai tracks 10,000+ open-source AI projects. To do this, we collect publicly available data through the official GitHub API: repository metadata (name, owner, description, stars, forks, language, license, topics, dates), short README excerpts shown with attribution and a link to the source, and the public username and avatar of repository owners. We keep a daily history of some of this data (for example star counts and health scores) to show trends over time. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in informing the public about the open-source AI ecosystem (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)) — the scoring formulas are published next to every score, and we never collect e-mail addresses from GitHub, nor sell personal information.
Avatars are loaded from GitHub's servers. When a page shows a project owner's avatar, your browser fetches the image directly from GitHub (a U.S. company), which then sees your IP address under its own privacy statement.
Claiming a page. If you verify ownership of a project through GitHub sign-in, we store your GitHub login to link your account to the page — that flow runs on your explicit action.
Correction and removal. If you own a project or a GitHub profile shown on this site and want it corrected, updated or removed — including from our historical data — write to [email protected]. We respond promptly to every removal request, as our use of GitHub data requires and as the GDPR entitles you to.
Assistant questions: a rolling log of the last 5,000 questions, with no identifier attached. Assistant daily counter: a hashed value, discarded at the end of each day.
Member account data: retained for as long as your account remains active, and deleted when you delete your account, except where retention is required by law or necessary to resolve disputes or security incidents. Newsletter subscription data: retained until you unsubscribe, subject to any limited retention required to maintain an unsubscribe record.
Server access logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days. Cookie consent preferences are stored in your browser for 12 months. We do not retain inputs or outputs from the built-in creative AI tools described in Section 2; questions submitted to the olud.ai assistant are retained only as described above in this section.
We use third-party providers to operate specific parts of the Service: Infomaniak for hosting and e-mail, Google and GitHub for optional authentication, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity for consent-based analytics, Google AdSense for advertising, and the AI infrastructure providers described above for AI features. These providers process information under their own applicable terms and privacy policies.
Some third-party service providers used by olud.ai — including authentication, analytics, advertising and AI processing providers — may process data outside Switzerland or the EEA. Where required, such transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards under applicable data-protection law; the relevant providers' privacy policies describe their processing locations and safeguards.
Our hosting is provided by Infomaniak (Switzerland). When Google AdSense operates, data may be transferred to Google's servers in the United States. Google states that it participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; where applicable, transfers may rely on that framework or other safeguards permitted under applicable data-protection law.
olud.ai is not directed at children under 13. Where applicable law requires parental or guardian consent for the processing of personal data of older minors, we require that consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us immediately.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be indicated by a new "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
