AI pricing swings: DeepSeek, Moonshot, Z.AI adjust input rates

72 new projects

Input prices moved sharply across Chinese AI providers on October 4, with DeepSeek, Moonshot AI and Z.AI all adjusting rates for several models. The changes span steep cuts and steep increases, leaving no single direction across the market.

The olud.ai index added 2,829 new projects this week, along with 100 new Hugging Face spaces. That brings fresh context to the pricing moves, as developers weigh cost changes across a rapidly expanding ecosystem.

The largest single jump came from DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, whose input price rose 1400% to $0.30 per 1M tokens. By contrast, GLM 5.3 from Z.AI fell 84% to $0.22 per 1M tokens.

Moonshot AI cut Kimi K3 input pricing by 73% to $0.72 per 1M tokens, while raising Kimi K2.6 by 121% to $0.95 per 1M tokens. The moves suggest repositioning across product tiers.

Emerging projects

Three new projects entered the index today. vorssaint-utils is a free open-source macOS menu bar toolkit written in Swift with 22,960 stars. BrowserSkill, a TypeScript project with 8,053 stars, lets AI agents use a real, logged-in browser via CLI and extension without interrupting work. sepia, a Python project with 2,930 stars, is a de-AI writing skill for Agent Skills-compatible agents, with native plugins for Claude Code, Codex and Grok.

The bigger picture

Today's pricing facts show providers adjusting aggressively, with deep cuts on newer models alongside sharp increases on older ones. Combined with a large weekly inflow of projects, the market continues to shift fast for developers tracking both cost and capability.
